Why Choose a Custom Laptop/Notebook?

In a world of always going, you never know when you might need to work remotely, might be stuck in a hotel with nothing to do, be at a family event that is boring you, the scenarios are endless, all while your custom desktop PC is at home. Just sitting there. Well, as I am sure many of you know there are other options such as going with a custom barebones laptop that would help you out anywhere, anytime. As someone who has a custom desktop, custom laptop, and custom server, allow me to give some great scenarios having a custom laptop has come in absolute clutch.

Traveling

This is a big one. I am sure I am preaching to the entire choir here with this blog, however having a custom laptop has saved me in so many scenarios when I have travelled. From providing me with something to do sitting in a hotel room, to allowing me to continue on with work, school, or personal projects. I have also set up a remote client on both my computer and server which allows me to access them anywhere at any time. While most wouldn’t have a need for that, the ones that do make having a custom laptop critical.

Back Up Plan

This, I believe, is a big one. Let’s say you have a beast of a custom gaming PC and boom; a component goes out rendering it inoperable. Well, most of us are left with nothing and must wait in terms of purchasing a new component or RMA’ing the defective one. Well, investing in a custom laptop would have you covered. While, yes, the gaming ones aren’t as powerful as custom gaming PC components, it would still allow you to continue on gaming (given the laptop specs could support said title) even in the downtime. It also would allow you to continue on in the event of a power outage. While you would have to hotspot for internet, it would be a great time to give some love to your ever-growing backlog of single player games. Don’t lie, we all have one.

Separation

While this doesn’t work for everyone, and isn’t needed for everyone, this is a sort of a niche use case and that is having a custom laptop for strictly school, a personal hobby, working, etc. If you only do something like school on your laptop and have no gaming application on there, games downloaded, etc. you are more likely to not be tempted to go off and fire up a game when you should be doing something like school. This has helped me significantly in terms of productivity when I should be studying or working on a personal project. Some people, however, don’t need that and have strong will power with temptation.
