What 1440p Monitors Are Worth Your Time?
1440p Monitor – What to get?
Monitors are a critical piece to any custom PC set up and there are a bunch of options out there. Small monitors to TV size monitors, refresh rates, resolution, additional features. It can become very daunting when trying to decide what to get. Allow me to give you some recommendations for 1440p monitors, or 2K monitors. It is a happy medium between 4K and 1080p and very affordable these days as well.
Asus ROG Swift OLED PG27AQDP
Asus is no stranger to monitors and they do have great products. PG27AQDP is the best of the best offering in terms of 1440p gaming monitor, with 27 inches of greatness mixed in with an OLED panel and a refresh rate boasting 480hz. Now, this does come at a cost and it is steep. Asus is not one to adjust prices much, either. It does offer G-Sync and Freesync and has an AI assistant as well, because why wouldn’t it. This type of monitor is for the dedicated gamer as it will provide you a glorious experience at 1440p, given your custom gaming PC can provide a smooth 1440p experience.
Acer UM.HW0AA.003
Let’s move to a cost effective monitor that still offers 1440p and won’t break the bank and that is the Acer UM.HW0AA.003. I would consider this entry level for 1440p and it is a brand that I can speak highly of as I use only their monitor offerings. This 27” screen offers a 75hz refresh rate which isn’t noticeable compared to 60hz, however it does have a 1ms response time which is great for gaming, especially for first person shooters. While you won’t have an amazing refresh rate, having a 1ms response time is very nice. As stated, this is definitely an entry level 1440p model for your custom gaming PC experience.
LG 27GS75Q-B
LG makes great displays across the board, and their monitors are no exception. This monitor would be a middle-tier option compared to the other two monitors we have discussed. First, this monitor is well priced given what features are offered with this monitor. It offers a 180hz refresh rate and can achieve 200hz if overclocked, as well as a 1ms response time which is great paired with a high refresh rate. This monitor also has an IPS panel which offers great colors on screen and is paired well with HDR10. This 27” monitor is great for seasoned custom PC and custom gaming PC users as it is really a step up from a lot of offerings out there and is well within budget in most cases.
Monitors are always a tough decision, given how many options are truly out there. At the end of the day, it is going to boil down to the features you want/need and your budget. It is always good to look into what each option has to offer. Looking for a new monitor for your custom PC or custom gaming PC?
